Consultant General Surgeon

  • Mr Noel O’Brien
  • Consultant General and Vascular Surgeon
  • Mr Noel O’Brien graduated from UCC Medical School in 1996 and undertook basic surgical training in Cork between 1997 and 2004, spending 2 years carrying out research towards an MD degree during this time.
  • Between 2005 and 2010 Mr O’Brien completed his Higher Surgical Training Scheme in various hospitals around Ireland and spent a year undertaking a vascular fellowship in Lille France from 2009-2010. Having obtained his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST), Mr O’Brien returned to Ireland in 2010 and commenced practice in the South Infirmary/Victoria Hospital where he has particular interests in upper and lower GI endoscopy, laparoscopic and open general surgical operations and the management of symptomatic varicose veins.

Consultant Clinical Psychologist

  • Ms Carmel Coughlan Murphy
  • Graduated in Psychology from London University in 1978 and spent a year carrying out research before completing higher training in the field of Clinical Psychology at the University of Aberdeen. Ms Coughlan Murphy returned to Ireland and in 1981 took up a Clinical Psychology post with the HSE in the area of adult mental health, initially with the Department of Psychiatry and subsequently with the Community Mental Health Disciplinary Team. Involved in teaching from 1996 to 2011 both in UCC and CIT.She specializes in the areas of adult relationship difficulties; sexual problems, couple problems, anxiety, depression, OCD, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and Psychotherapy.
